Leadership project: Bring specialists to the newsroom to train reporters on particular beats towards improving knowledge of the reporters starting with the aviation sector.

Story project: Female inclusion in aviation and the challenges they face.

An indigene of Michika Local Government of Adamawa State, Maria Albert Zirra is a graduate of Mass Communication with a Masters Degree in Public Relations. Maria is based in Abuja.

Leadership project: Organise a roundtable for the Nigerian Women Journalists (NAWOJ) and invite a resource person to talk about gender sensitivity and ways of doing better at work.

Story project: To dig into the effect of communal clashes on women and children.

Bunmi Yekini is an award winning broadcast journalist with a knack for media mentoring, professionalism and creativity. She is always open to learning and willing to teach.

Leadership project: Bunmi Yekini intends to mentor young reporters who are on internship in her newsroom.

Story project: She will be telling the story of girls and women in a rural community in Ojo area of Lagos.

Fun fact: She is unpredictable.

Ayodele Olofintuade is a writer, journalist and activist. She is a woman of many parts, hoping to change Nigeria one person at a time. She lives in Ibadan and runs a feminist blog – 9jafeminista.

Leadership project: To mentor students from schools and create awareness on knowing their right against sexual harassment

Faith Yahaya is a freelance journalist with the The Nation Newspaper, Abuja. She covers the crime desk with special focus on the Nigerian Police Force. She also
writes on Transportation.

Leadership project: Faith Yahaya’s project is to get editorial staff in her office to have a better understanding of the use of technology especially as it relates to social media.

Story project: Agonies of female gentlemen of the press

Fun fact: She is fun.

A graduate of Business Administration and Management with a Diploma in Mass Communication, Evelyn Okalawu is the Judiciary Reporter for Premium Times online newspaper, who also covers religion.

Leadership project: Gender sensitive reporting among journalists and improved gender-based media organisations.

Story project: To report the painful experiences of underaged rape victims in Nigeria and the effect of rape.

Fun fact: She laughs a lot, and cries almost alike.

Amina Alhassan is a seasoned journalist with Daily Trust Newspapers, Abuja. She has worked on investigative stories and published compelling and touching interviews. She was awarded the Daily Trust Chairman’s Excellence Award in 2015. She is presently the Editor, Tambari Magazine, a Daily Trust Publication, which focuses on promoting women issues.

Leadership project: Religious tolerance advocacy called – Female Journalism for Peace – which she wants to take from the newsroom to secondary schools. Her aim is to de-radicalise students at an early stage.

Story project: The lack of blood for pregnant women in some hospitals in Abuja.

Fun fact: She likes telling jokes and dancing.

A radio journalist of over a decade, who has distinguished herself in the profession, Olufunke Fayemi is an award-winning producer with a penchant for perfection. She works with Voice of Nigeria, the external broadcast service of Nigeria.

Leadership project: To bring the women in her office together through monthly meetings and bring in external speakers to educate them on leadership and gender mainstreaming.

Story project: To report on the lifestyle of girls in the destitute camp in the Ebutte-Meta area of Lagos.

Fun fact: She likes to party.

Godiya Daniel is a journalist from Adamawa State who works for Nigerian Television Authority in Yola. She has a B.Tech in Information Technology and seven years work experience in journalism. She loves writing, reading, and learning new ideas.

Leadership project: Training of Mass Communication internship students within and outside her station.

Story project: Life after insurgency for victims especially the girls and women

Fun fact: Always smiling.

One of the foremost crime journalists in Nigeria, Juliana Ebere Francis is always breaking stereotypes and glass ceilings. She has over fifteen years experience as a journalist and is presently the Crime Editor at New Telegraph Newspaper.

Leadership project: Create a newsletter on youth, crime and society and disseminate this through a mailing list.

Story project: Work on human interest stories on news issues around human trafficking and the possible roles of clergies in fueling spouse’s death through domestic violence.

Fun fact: She is honest.

Ene Osang is a reporter on women/youth/Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) for Blueprint Newspapers. She is also the producer of weekly women/youth/ kids column, and a gender activist. She lives in Abuja.

Leadership project: To train interns and other colleagues on survival tips for female journalists.

Story project: Investigative stories on gender, focusing on female gender champions in leadership roles.

Fun fact: She is friendly and cherishes family and work.

Nafisat Abdulkarim is currently an independent freelance journalist and has work experience as an intern in radio and print media. She works as a producer/presenter with AREWA24 TV Channel in Kano State.

Leadership project: To create a network of female independent freelance journalists.

Story project: Nafisat Abdulkarim plans to do stories on the difficult experiences and effect of poverty among poor women in the society.

Fun fact: She loves to read and writes poems

With over 8 years work experience as a journalist. Nkechi Isaac is a science & technology, and communication reporter with Leadership Newspaper in Abuja. She is currently running her masters degree at Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

Leadership project: Concentrate on the Industrial Training (IT) and Youth Service candidates, to mentor and teach them how to advance in the media industry.

Story project: The milestones recorded by at least 10 outstanding women in the development of science and technology in Nigeria.

Fun fact: She loves music.

A penchant for spotting errors and commitment to the growth of humanity are values that drive Abosede Evelyn Omoruyi, who works with the Core TV.

Leadership project: To engraft interns more into the workings of the newsroom by getting each intern to package one story every week.

Story project: To follow up on the plight of women who clean the roads and the dumping of refuse on roads.
