For her Sixth ReportWomen! FRLP, leadership project, Christian Alabi-Akande, Managing Editor of DevReporting Newspaper, organised an on-site training session for 29 Mass Communication students (24 female and 5 male) at Caleb University, Lagos State. During the training themed, Network of Future-Ready Journalists (NFJ), she guided the students through the basic ethics of journalism, helping them understand the importance of integrity and responsibility in the profession.

Joining her were two facilitators. Adejumo Kabir, a Senior Researcher at Good Governance Africa, trained the students on fundamental reporting techniques and newsroom realities, bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry expectations. He also provided insights into newsroom leadership and workflow dynamics. The second facilitator, Funmi Falobi, a lecturer at Caleb University, emphasised the role of journalism in driving social change. She introduced the students to emerging opportunities within the media space, encouraging them to look beyond the classroom and engage with the wider professional landscape.

To ensure the sustainability of the project, Alabi-Akande plans to seek partnerships with media-support organisations such as the Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID), Female Freelancers Network (FFN), DevReporting, Women Initiative for Sustainable Environment (WISE), and African Women in Media (AWiM), among others.
