Senior Editor at Zikoko Citizen, Chigozie Victor, facilitated a two-day virtual training for 14 early-career journalists (6 females and 8 males), providing guidance on the structure and appropriate coverage of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), as well as solutions-based SGBV reporting.
She co-facilitated the training with Zubaida Baba-Ibrahim, Sub Editor at Nigeria Health Watch, and Jemilat Nasiru, Staff Writer at The Cable. The facilitators provided participants with in-depth insights into ethical, sensitive, and effective reporting on SGBV issues.
Following the training, the resource persons and participants were added to a WhatsApp community to enable continued mentorship, periodic SGBV-focused sessions, and discussions on other areas of journalism where participants seek improvement.
