Evelyn Usman holds a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages from the Ambrose Alli University,Ekpoma, Edo State\u00a0 and \u00a0Masters Degree in International\u00a0 Relations and Strategic Studies from\u00a0 the Lagos State University.<\/p>\n

Career & Expertise<\/strong><\/p>\n

Evelyn covers\u00a0 Crime and Defence beats and has over 3000 human interest\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0and security related stories published since she started reporting\u00a0 \u00a0two decades \u00a0ago.<\/p>\n

Some of her write-ups \u00a0initiated government policies. One\u00a0 of them was\u00a0 on the plight of \u2018 Pensioners turned beggars\u2019, which formed a topic\u00a0 of\u00a0 \u00a0discourse \u00a0\u00a0at the House of Representatives in 2005 and \u00a0consequently resulted in the increment \u00a0of \u00a0allocation to the Pension office, to ameliorate the sufferings of pensioners.<\/p>\n

She has embarked on \u00a0sea operation exercises between the Nigerian Navy and various navies of the world , both at home and abroad.<\/p>\n

In her quest for knowledge,\u00a0 Evelyn has attended several courses and trainings which included training and service of over 1,500\u00a0 dignitaries and guests on the occasion of the historic visit of former President of the United States of America,\u00a0 Mr. Williams Jefferson Clinton,\u00a0 to Nigeria,\u00a0 in August 2000.<\/p>\n

Evelyn is the first female to emerge Vice President of the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria, since inception\u00a0 30 years ago.<\/p>\n

She was\u00a0 \u00a0among the ten Nigerian\u00a0 journalists trained by Expertise France in Ghana in\u00a0 2022.<\/p>\n

Her project on Human Trafficking and Cyber Crime in West Africa was announced\u00a0 winner and only Nigerian journalist \u00a0selected for mentoring by the Thierry \u00a0Lecl\u00e8re, \u00a0the co-facilitator working with French-speaking journalists, this year (2023).<\/p>\n
