{"id":1454,"date":"2022-11-15T13:21:14","date_gmt":"2022-11-15T12:21:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/experts.9jahost.net\/?post_type=rwexperts&#038;p=1454"},"modified":"2023-12-19T15:11:49","modified_gmt":"2023-12-19T14:11:49","slug":"meet-maryam-ciroma","status":"publish","type":"rwexperts","link":"https:\/\/reportwomen.org\/experts\/rwexperts\/meet-maryam-ciroma\/","title":{"rendered":"Hajiya Inna Maryam Ciroma, CON"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Education &amp; Certifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Maryam Inna Ciroma obtained a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria in 1978; a postgraduate diploma in Public Administration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Career &amp; Expertise<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>She served as Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority, Lokoja, Kogi State; appointed Minister for Women Affairs by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in July 2005 and she initiated a nationwide advocacy tour of the 36 states on matters relating to child rights and discrimination against women.<\/p>\n<p>She was a strong advocate of gender equality and during her time in office, the Federal Government approved the National Gender Policy in pursuance of gender equality and child welfare.<\/p>\n<p>In January 2007 her ministry issued \u201cNational Guidelines and Standards of Practice for Orphans and Vulnerable Children\u201d.
