Toun Okewale-Sonaiya holds a Bachelor’s degree in English from Ogun State University which she earned between 1986 and 1990. She also obtained a Certificate in Housing and Welfare Management from Trans Atlantic College in the United Kingdom in 1999.

Toun Okewale-Sonaiya is a pioneering Nigerian radio broadcaster and media entrepreneur. In 2015, she launched WFM 91.7, Nigeria’s first women-focused radio station, where she currently serves as CEO. Her career spans over four decades in radio broadcasting, with early roles at Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation, Ray Power, and Choice FM in London.
She has played a key role in empowering women and girls through initiatives like TheWomenAgenda, a programme aimed at driving anti-corruption efforts by mainstreaming women and girls as leaders of accountability campaigns.
Her leadership extends beyond radio, with executive positions at DAAR Communications and involvement in organisations such as the Centre for Women’s Health and Information.
