Omolade Augustine-Awodu holds the position of Professor of Haematology within the School of Medicine at the University of Benin. She earned her MBChB degree from Obafemi Awolowo University in 1990, followed by a Fellowship of The National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria (FMCPath) in 1998. She obtained a fellowship in the management of haemophilia in Mumbai, India, in 2016.
Throughout her career, Augustine-Awodu has held various leadership roles, including serving as Lecturer-in-Charge at the Department of Haematology, University of Benin, from 2002 to 2004, and as Acting Head from 2010 to 2012. Currently, she also holds the position of Assistant Dean of Medicine, a role she has held since 2014.
Her ongoing research focuses on ‘Blood Clotting Factors in Women.’ She pursued her education at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, joining the residency training program in 1993 and obtaining the fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Pathology (FMCPath) in 1998, specializing in haematology and blood transfusion. She was awarded the Doctor of Medicine degree (MD) from the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in 2020.
After joining the University of Benin in 1999 as a lecturer, Augustine-Awodu rose to the rank of professor in 2011. Her commitment to advancing the practice of clinical and laboratory haematology with a patient-centered approach exemplified her capacity.
