Marycelin Baba holds the esteemed position of Professor of Medical Virology/Microbiology within the College of Medical Sciences at the University of Maiduguri in Borno State. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Ibadan in 2005.
Throughout her career, Baba has held pivotal roles, including serving as the Pioneer Head of the Department of Medical Laboratory Science from 2004 to 2012, and as the Director of the WHO National Polio Laboratory at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital since 2006.
She is recognised as an Associate member of the Organisation of Women in Science in Developing Countries and the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria.
Currently, her research endeavors focus on arboviruses and viral haemorrhagic fevers, and she has amassed a notable body of work with 49 publications, 11,322 reads, and 1,047 citations to her credit.
Baba possesses expertise in various aspects of infectious disease research, including HIV, infectious disease epidemiology, immunology of infectious diseases, infectious disease medicine, tropical diseases, viral infection, and HIV prevention.
