Babington-Ashaye studied Insurance and Actuarial Science at Lagos State University, Lagos Business School Pan-Atlantic University, Harvard Business School, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

As an entrepreneur, author, mentor, and philanthropist, she is committed to grooming the next generation of insurance entrepreneurs and professionals; Funmi Babington-Ashaye regularly gives talks in educational institutions and on platforms where she can mentor the youth and is the founder of the Funmi Babington-Ashaye Foundation.

She is a seasoned underwriter with over 28 years of cognate experience in the insurance industry; she is an Alumnus of Lagos Business School and a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

At Cornerstone Insurance Plc, she rose from the level of a manager to Managing Director of the company spanning about 18 years, where, among other innovations, she introduced Saturday Insurance, the first in the Nigeria insurance industry.

She grew the company’s turnover by 80 percent within one year and successfully recapitalised the company. She was interim Managing Director of NICON Insurance Plc by the Federal Government.
