Education & Certifications
Dr. Rose Suniso Maxwell Gidado earned a BSc in Food Science & Technology from the University of Maiduguri in 1990, a MSc in Industrial Microbiology (Bioenergy) from the University of Abuja in 2005, and a Ph.D. in Microbiology (Industrial) Bioenergy from the University of Abuja in 2009.
Dr. Gidado is Deputy Director of the Agricultural Biotech Dept at the National Biotechnology Development Agency (NABDA); Nigeria Country Coordinator for the Open Forum on Agricultural Biotechnology (OFAB) in Africa.
Experience
She holds outreach programmes to increase public understanding of biotechnology and biosafety locally and internationally.
She has published many scientific articles in national and international journals and has authored and edited various policy briefs and book chapters.
She has received many awards, including the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development Award as a mentor to young scientists.
She is highly skilled in fermentation technology.
She is an Advisory Board Member-Alliance for Science, Cornell University, Ithaca, New York Area [July 2017 to present]; and an Advisory Board Member-Africa BioSciences, Nigeria [February 2016 to present].
She was the Chief Scientific Officer and Coordinator, OFAB Nigeria Chapter, NABDA, Abuja, [January 2011 – December 2013]; Research Assistant at the Sheda Science & Technology Complex, Abuja [January 2001-April 2002].
Dr. Gidado has also worked with the Abuja Business Network, Nigeria/West Africa; Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato Crop (OFSP); African Research Network on Medicinal Plants and Natural Products Research by GA and ISE, and ASM Ambassador Network, etc.
