Ewumi is a lecturer at the College of Specialised and Professional Education, Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode. She obtained her PhD from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, in 2010. She was the Dean of Students Affairs since 2011.
She was Director, Centre for Human Rights and Gender Education (CHURGE).
She is an active member of the Counselling Association of Nigeria (CASSON). Her current research is on the use of counselling strategies in the enhancement of students’ poor academic performance. She is a professor of Counselling Psychology at Tai Solarin University of Education with specialisation and an interest in the enhancement of academic achievement and adolescent psychology.
She has worked with students and supervised several undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. She was an external examiner at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) as well as Babcock University, Ilishan Remo. In her years of experience as a lecturer, she facilitated and lectured on career development theories and vocational adjustment, teaching practice, and project and research methods among others.
