Amina is a staunch advocate for women and child rights, renowned as the founder of the Women Trafficking and Child Labour Eradication Foundation (WOTCLEF) and the driving force behind the private bill that led to the establishment of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

Before her advocacy work gained prominence, Amina served as a lecturer at the Kaduna State Polytechnic. Upon her husband, Atiku Abubakar, assuming the role of Nigeria’s vice president in 1999, she launched a campaign to combat forced prostitution and various forms of human trafficking.

In addition to her advocacy efforts, Amina initiated educational programs tailored to welcoming and rehabilitating girls repatriated from different countries to Nigeria.
