Ogwezzy-Ndisika holds an extensive array of academic qualifications, which include a B.A. in Linguistics from the University of Port-Harcourt, a Postgraduate Diploma and a Master’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos, a Master of Arts in Gender and Development from the University of Sussex, England, and a PhD in Communication Arts from the University of Ibadan. She is also a British Chevening and ADM Erasmus+ Exchange Scholar, solidifying her global academic and professional credentials.
Career & Expertise
Ogwezzy-Ndisika is a distinguished academic and expert in development communication, public relations, and advertising. Having begun her academic career at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) as a Lecturer II in 2001, she ascended to the rank of Professor in 2016, becoming the first female professor in the Department of Mass Communication. Her expertise in marketing communication and media studies is backed by years of practical industry experience in television broadcasting, public relations, and advertising.
Her expertise has earned her prestigious recognitions, including selection for two international programmes: the Trust, Accountability, and Inclusion (TAI) Collaborative Programme in Mexico and the Study of the U.S. Institute (SUSI) for Scholars on Journalism and Media in the United States. These recognitions highlight her scholarly work and community service, particularly in areas of collaborative journalism, democracy, accountability, and social justice.
Ogwezzy-Ndisika has also served as a two-term acting and one-term substantive Head of the Department of Mass Communication at UNILAG. Her influence extends beyond academia, as she is the Technical Adviser for the WSCIJ’s CMEDIA project, contributing her vast knowledge to media inclusivity and accountability initiatives.
