Makanjuola attended NBC Training School in Lagos in 1977 and NTA TV College in Jos in 1983.She had further training at the Voice of America Training School in 1998, the American Heritage University of Southern California in San Bernardino, USA, where she earned a B.A. in Media Studies, and the International Institute of Journalism (IIJ) in Abuja, where she obtained a postgraduate diploma.

Career & Expertise

Makanjuola is a distinguished figure in Nigerian journalism, especially in the areas of health and gender reporting. She began her career as the first television announcer for the National Television Broadcast in Kwara State before moving to the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), where she served for many years. During her time at NTA, she rose to the position of pioneer head of the Health and Gender Desk and later led the Presentation and Reportorial Units from 1980 to 1985.

A committed health journalist, Makanjuola played a significant role in shaping health journalism in Nigeria, influencing public attitudes on critical health issues such as vaccines. She was also a pioneer member of the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta. After retiring from NTA, she continued to work with the network on a contract basis.
