Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo (Kekere-Ekun) obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Lagos (1980) and a Master of Laws from the London School of Economics and Political Science (1983). In July 1981, she was called to the Nigerian Bar.

Career & Expertise

Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo (Kekere-Ekun) is a distinguished jurist with over four decades of legal and judicial experience. She began her career in private practice before becoming a Senior Magistrate in Lagos State in 1989. In 1996, she was appointed a Judge of the Lagos State High Court and chaired the Robbery and Firearms Tribunal from 1996 to 1999.

Her judicial acumen led to her elevation to the Court of Appeal in 2004, where she served as the presiding Justice in the Makurdi and Akure Divisions. In 2013, she was appointed to the Supreme Court of Nigeria, becoming the 5th female Justice of the Court.

She has presided over landmark cases, including significant election disputes. Her appointment as Chief Justice of Nigeria in August 2024 marks a significant milestone, as she is the second woman to hold this prestigious position.
