Josephine Obiajulu Okei-Odumakin is a prominent women’s rights activist, serving as the president of the human rights groups Women Arise for Change Initiative and the Campaign for Democracy.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in English education in 1987, followed by a Master’s in Guidance & Counseling, and a doctorate in History and Policy of Education from the University of Ilorin.

Throughout her career, Odumakin has been involved in over 2,000 cases where women’s rights were disregarded, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to advancing gender equality and justice.

In recognition of her tireless efforts, the United States Department of State honoured her with the International Women of Courage Award in 2013.
