Precious Igbonwelundu attended the University of Lagos where she obtained a master’s degree in mass communication in 2012. She had earlier graduated from Anambra State University, Uli, in 2008, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication.
Career & Expertise
Igbonwelundu presently heads the Security Desk at The Nation Newspapers.
She has so far covered the wars and conflicts in Somalia and Southern Cameroon, as well as real-time anti-piracy, counterterrorism, and other security operations. Before she joined The Nation, she had worked as News Coordinator, EdoLight Magazine, and was the Public Relations Officer at Edo State Ministry of Youth and Sports between 2009 and 2012.
She also had brief stints at the Voice of Nigeria and Champion Newspapers Limited.
She is a member of several professional bodies, among which are the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, the Nigerian Union of Journalists, the Crime Reporters Association in Nigeria, Advocates for Children, and the Vulnerable People’s Network. She also sits on the board of a few nonprofit
