Eugenia Abu is considered one of Nigeria’s finest broadcasters and comperes. She anchored the 9:00 PM news on NTA for 17 years.
Abu established the Eugenia Abu Media Centre, a reading and mentorship hub for young Nigerian creatives, in 2018. The centre hosts annual creative and literary boot camps for children between the ages of 7–15 years. In 2008, her book, In the Blink of an Eye, received the ANA/NDDC Flora Nwapa Prize for best female writing.
Abu studied English at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where she graduated in 1981. She obtained a master’s degree in Communication Policy Studies from the City University of London in 1992, graduating with distinction. Abu is not just a newscaster; she is also a writer and poet.
