Onifade obtained a PhD from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 2002. 

She is a Professor of Social Studies in the College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State. Her current research is on the effect of violence against women on women and children’s welfare in Ogun and Kwara States. She is a member of the National Steering Committee of the Civil Society Coalition on Sustainable Development.
