Hauwa is an educationist, consultant, and writer of biography. She obtained her doctorate degree from the University of Lagos (1998). She was a pioneer, Director of the Institute of Education from 2004 to 2008; Director Consultancy Services between 2008 and 2009, Dean Faculty of Education from 2009 to 2011 and Director, Centre for Gender Security Studies & Youth Advancement from 2011 to 2016.

She is an Executive Member and Director of affiliates engagement at the Commonwealth Council of Educational Administration and Management. She is the National President, Nigerian Association for Educational Administration and Planning.
