At the University of Calabar’s Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, Maisie Etukudo teaches chemical pathology. She served as the University of Calabar’s Chemical Pathology Department’s acting head of department from 2000 to 2002. (2015 to 2016). She is the faculty dean for allied medical sciences at the moment.

Her current research examines antioxidant defense mechanisms in a number of illness situations, including protein energy deficiency. She is an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Medical Laboratory Science of Nigeria.

Having conducted extensive research on the subjects, Prof. Etukudo can offer insight into malnutrition and other disease conditions like malaria, smoking and its impact on the liver and heart, among others.
